SILENT HILL Townfall Preload and File Size

SILENT HILL: Townfall is still upcoming. A preload is a download, not permission to start the campaign. Worldwide release remains September 24, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Deluxe digital pre-orders unlock 48 hours early on September 22. The film on this page is the official State of Play 2026 release-date trailer — the date lock, not a preload tutorial. Townfall is single-player. There is single-player only. Preload does not add a lobby. It fills a drive so the calendar can open the door on time.

The PS5 numbers published September 7, 2026

TwistedVoxel and PlayStation Game Size both logged the PlayStation 5 listing on September 7, 2026. The download they recorded was 51.172 GB, version 02.002.000. Treat that as a store listing. Store listings can shift before launch: day-one patches, language packs, and last-minute compressions all move a number after a journalist screenshots it. If your console shows a different size on the 20th or the 22nd, believe the console, then come back here when we can match a new listing.

Those same roundups listed midnight as the unlock flavour — midnight in the store timezone, not a promise that every region prints the same clock face. Steam already drifts Deluxe and Standard printed days because of timezone; PlayStation can do the same with a midnight badge. Count from Konami’s two dates (22 and 24) and from the preload windows below, not from a recap thumbnail.

Physical PS5 Standard discs still exist. A disc does not spare you the patch. Leave space for the 51 GB-class download plus whatever the store adds on top. Deluxe has no disc; it is digital-only on every platform, so Deluxe owners are entirely in the preload business.

Two preload windows, two play windows

Deluxe digital. Preload listed from September 20. Play listed from September 22 (the 48-hour early access). If you pre-ordered Deluxe on PlayStation Store, Steam, or Epic, you are on this clock. Installing on the 20th does not let you walk Shorefront on the 20th. It lets the install finish so September 22 is a boot, not a bar.

Standard (digital and physical PS5). Preload listed from September 22. Release September 24. Standard buyers who finish installing on the 22nd still wait. Deluxe’s early access is the only official way onto the 22nd as a playable night. A SteelBook around a Standard box is a retailer wrap, not a third SKU and not a preload shortcut — see editions.

Midnight listed on those windows means “when the store says the day begins,” not “Konami will email you.” If you care about being in St. Amelia at the first legal minute, download on the preload day, keep the console on rest, and confirm the edition on the receipt is the one you think it is.

PC is still a different row

Steam and the Epic Games Store still list 75 GB SSD on the official spec sheet. That is not the PS5 51.172 GB number. PC install size, reserved space, and shader cache are not the same conversation as a console download badge. Both tiers of the PC table use 75 GB; recommended prefers NVMe. Windows 11 x64 and DirectX 12 are required. The system requirements page copies the minimum and recommended rows in full.

Cite the 75 GB figure the same way as the PS5 one: a store listing that can shift. If Steam’s installer asks for more than 75 GB on preload day, believe Steam. If Epic’s library card still says 75 GB while the download is larger, believe the download. This wiki will not invent a third “actual” size to sit between them.

Screen Burn recommends a controller on PC. Preload does not change that. DualSense on PC is still your problem to plug in before September 22 or 24, not a file-size issue.

What preload will not do

It will not start the campaign early on a Standard account. It will not install Japanese voices early — that track is a launch-day update described on the Japanese voice cast page, and it is not the same file as the English-only day-zero build. It will not replace learning peek, hide, and CRTV tuning. Use getting started if you plan to go in cold besides the docks.

It will not change endings, ammo, or difficulty names. Five endings, three on a first 10–14 hour run, two in New Game+, still accumulate from how you play. Story / Normal / Nightmare still sit on difficulty settings. A finished bar on the 20th is not a different game.

If a key shop sold you a “preload code” that is not PlayStation, Steam, or Epic, you are gambling on whether the 51 GB or 75 GB even belongs to you. Official storefronts are on links. Dates without file sizes live on release date and platforms. Other films — 18-minute gameplay, gamescom cast, Inside Screen Burn — are listed on trailers so this page is not a second trailer dump.

Keep the updates hub bookmarked through September 20–24. If version 02.002.000 is replaced by a newer badge, that is expected. Listings move. The two play clocks should not: Deluxe on the 22nd, everyone else on the 24th, unless Konami publishes a change.

A finished download is not a finished wait. Preload fills the drive; the calendar still owns the door.
