Richard Character File

Richard is the man who starts SILENT HILL: Townfall before Simon Ordell even finds his feet on the dock. Official English copy calls him the enigmatic man who summons Simon back to St. Amelia and sets the events of the game in motion. As Simon’s journey unfolds, Richard’s connection to the town and its troubled past becomes increasingly difficult to ignore. A parallel official bio, used on character pages, describes him as another voice through the CRTV: he asks Simon to come back to the island and “put some things to rest.” Ties to Simon are unknown. It is “clear that they must work together to survive in St. Amelia and achieve their shared goals.”

That last sentence is story language. Townfall is single-player. There is no second controller and no drop-in partner. You play Simon. Richard is a presence, a summons, and — in Steam screenshots — a bald, bearded man in a suit. Treat “work together” as a plot promise, not a multiplayer feature. If a search result sold you Townfall as a duo shooter, it was looking at a different product.

The game is upcoming: September 24, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. This file is a pre-launch reading of bios, the gamescom cast reveal, and what footage is willing to show. It is not a verdict on whether Richard is a guide, a warden, or something the island invented. For the other two confirmed leads, use Zoe and the characters hub. For the things in the street, use creatures and Otherworld.

Voice, face, and the summons

Terry O’Quinn voices Richard in English. Press materials list Lost and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live; older viewers will also know him from The Stepfather. The August 25, 2026 gamescom trailer is the official English cast reveal — Jovan Adepo as Simon, Kezia Burrows as Zoe, O’Quinn as Richard. It lives on the characters hub. At KONAMI PRESS START, Konami highlighted a Japanese voice cast and played messages from the English actors. Official Japanese materials name Akio Otsuka as Richard, with Hiroki Yasumoto as Simon and Yuko Kaida as Zoe. Japanese voices are planned as a launch-day update. Those PRESS START messages, including Adepo’s, are embedded on Simon’s page as a cast feature, not as a Richard-only reel.

The summons is specific. Simon is called back to “put things right.” Richard’s version, in the character bio, is to “put some things to rest.” Those are not the same sentence. The cast reveal trailer plays both flavors of the line. Do not collapse them into one motive until the game does. Write down which wording you actually heard on the CRTV. The CRTV guide is the mechanical half of that habit: tune, listen, and do not treat every voice as a waypoint.

Visually, marketing stills show a composed older man: bald, beard, dark suit. He does not appear in the early Shorefront streets the way Zoe’s empty house does. He arrives as voice and as implication. Writer and director Jon McKellan (Screen Burn Interactive, formerly No Code) has said Townfall leans on “real life over mythology.” Richard is the character who most looks like he already knows the town’s paperwork. Composer Pilotpriest scores the analog dread around him. Publishers are Konami and Annapurna Interactive.

How he sits in the CRTV story

St. Amelia is a fictional 1996 Scottish island based on St. Monans, Fife. Silent Hill here is a phenomenon and a state of mind, not only the US town. Richard’s “connection to both the town and its troubled past” is the sentence Konami wants you to carry into the fog. Posters in footage talk about a heart that has stopped. Simon wakes with an IV bag. Zoe is a nurse at the family clinic. Medical imagery is everywhere. Richard is the person who thought calling Simon was the way to settle it.

Zoe speaks through static and says come back to her. Richard says come back and put things to rest. Official copy does not make her his errand and does not make him her doctor. They are two frequencies on the same broken television. Read Zoe’s profile before you decide the island has only one adult in it. The puzzles and walkthrough pages will matter more once his requests turn into rooms. Until then, getting started is the better first read, and controls will save you when a DualSense gyro prompt hits during a weak signal.

Do not cast him as Pyramid Head’s lawyer or as a friendly radio dad. Previews have not given him a combat role. The creatures page is about the things in the street — strapped stalkers, a cleaver-faced miscreation in the Rock Paper Shotgun Gamescom write-up, tentacle grabs, distant giants you do not fight — not about a named boss called Richard. If a fight starts, it is Simon’s plank and Simon’s stamina. See combat and stealth and how to survive. Some enemies cannot be fought. Richard’s voice will not block for you.

Endings, length, and what this page will not do

A first playthrough is estimated at 10 to 14 hours. Five endings exist; three on a first run, two in New Game+. Konami has said they accumulate from search, combat, and how you handle encounters. Whether Richard’s requests are a hidden ending flag is not public. The endings overview will not invent one. This file will not invent a last name, a job title, or a villain monologue Konami has not printed.

If you are still choosing a copy, use editions, system requirements, pre-order, and the release date page. New videos go on trailers. Official channels are on links. The rest of the guides hub is how Simon stays alive long enough to hear the next sentence. The updates hub is where this profile will change after September 24, if the retail script is willing to name what Richard actually wants.

Richard is hard to ignore because the game tells you he will be. Listen to the summons. Do not obey it blindly. That is the most Silent Hill instruction this page can give before launch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for launch week and first-person survival.

Who is Richard in Townfall?

The enigmatic man who summons Simon back to St. Amelia and asks him, through the CRTV, to put some things to rest. Official copy says his link to the town’s past becomes hard to ignore.

Who voices Richard?

Terry O’Quinn in English (Lost). Japanese: Akio Otsuka (大塚明夫), expected in a launch-day update. See the Japanese voice cast page.

Does Richard mean Townfall has multiplayer?

No. Bios say Simon and Richard must work together to survive. That is story language. The game is single-player only on PS5 and PC, with no two-player display and no online multiplayer.

Is Richard a villain?

Konami has not said so. He is billed as enigmatic, with a past that will not stay buried. This page will not invent a twist. Play the summons and judge after September 24.

How is Richard connected to Zoe?

Official text does not define it. Zoe is the nurse on the CRTV; Richard is the man who called Simon home. They are two voices on the same device. Tune both; see the CRTV guide.
