SILENT HILL Townfall Five Endings Overview
Spoiler-light structure: five total, three on a first pass, two behind New Game+, no last-second A/B prompt.
SILENT HILL: Townfall has five endings. This page explains the structure Screen Burn has already confirmed in interviews. It does not name endings, describe final scenes, or list item flags. The game is still upcoming — worldwide September 24, 2026, Deluxe early access September 22 — so there is no retail spoiler chart to copy. If a guide already publishes invented titles for Townfall’s finales, it is guessing.
Writer-director Jon McKellan and series producer Motoi Okamoto have said the campaign is built so an ending should feel appropriate to how you played. The goal is a conclusion that matches the night you had in St. Amelia, not a quiz at the credits. That is the whole spoiler-light version. Stop here if you want Shorefront completely cold and go to getting started instead.
The split: three now, two later
Five endings total. Three of them are the main set. Any one of those three can land on a first playthrough. You do not have to finish the game once on a fixed “default” finale before the other main endings exist. Two players can finish their first 10–14 hours on different main endings because they moved through St. Amelia differently.
Two secret endings sit in New Game+. You need a completed save and a second run to reach them. McKellan has not published the flags, and this wiki will not invent them. New Game+ is also described as carrying unlockable weapons and other additions so a replay is faster while still pushing you to change how you approach encounters — not as a museum tour of the same night.
A first clear is estimated at 10 to 14 hours. Stealth-heavy, thorough players sit on the long end. Speed does not automatically “lock” an ending by itself, but time spent in areas is one of the needles McKellan named, so rushing past optional rooms is not invisible.
Aggregate playstyle, not A/B
Endings are not a last-second dialogue pick and not a Silent Hill f-style “you will all see the same first finale.” McKellan’s phrasing: they are not based on A/B choices. It is how you play, the things you have done, the time you have spent in areas. Lots of small attributes move a needle. Public examples include:
- Aggression — how often you hunt and swing versus how often you hide and leave.
- Investigation — whether you chase optional discoveries, signals, and rooms that did not have to be opened.
- Presence — time in spaces, not only whether a story flag was ticked.
No on-screen meter tells you which finale you are currently “on.” There is no official Konami statement that one ending is canon. McKellan and Okamoto have been explicit that players should not wait for the studio to crown a true ending. The conversation after credits is part of the design.
Because the needle is aggregate, a single kind act in a hallway will not overwrite a whole night of plank-first combat, and a single missed cupboard will not erase a careful search. Play the way the town is making you play, then live with the ending that matches. If you want a different finale, New Game+ is the honest second night, not a chapter-select cheat the studio has announced.
How this should change a first run (without spoiling it)
You do not need an endings checklist on September 22 or 24. You need the survival loop. Hide before you swing. Tune the CRTV before you walk a fogged street. Use phones when you see them. Those habits are on how to survive and combat and stealth. They also happen to be the behaviors the ending system is watching: aggression versus evasion, curiosity versus a straight line.
If you already know you want a “quiet” first night, lean on peek, closets, and bottles as lures — the CRTV guide and controls are more useful than this page. If you already know you will fight everything that looks at Simon, accept that the finale will likely reflect that. Do not reload an hour of saves chasing a named ending this wiki refuses to name.
The Shorefront walkthrough and puzzles exist so you can finish rooms that footage already showed, not so you can farm finale flags. Character pages for Simon, Zoe, and Richard are for who you are listening to on the pocket television, not for which credits sting you “should” get.
Replay, New Game+, and what we will not list yet
After your first credits, New Game+ is the door to the two secret endings and a chance to push a different main ending by changing how you move, fight, and search. Unlockable weapons were mentioned as a way to make revisits quicker. That does not mean the second night is an action game; it means Screen Burn expects some players to come back louder on purpose.
This page will gain names and conditions only after the game is out and those names are public. Until then, any “UFO,” “leave,” or itemized shrine list you see attached to Townfall is either a different Silent Hill title or fiction. Bookmark the updates hub for post-launch notes, and treat this overview as structure only.
Editions do not change ending rules. Deluxe’s art book, mini soundtrack, and September 22 clock do not add a sixth finale — compare SKUs on editions. Platforms do not either: PS5, Steam, and Epic share the campaign. There is single-player only ending. When you are ready to walk into the fog without thinking about needles, close this tab and open getting started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for launch week and first-person survival.
How many endings does Townfall have?
Five. Three can occur on a first playthrough. Two secret endings require New Game+. This page does not name them.
Is there a last-second A/B choice?
No. Jon McKellan has said endings are not A/B picks. They accumulate from how you play, what you do, and time spent in areas.
Do I need New Game+ for a “good” ending?
You need New Game+ for the two secret endings. The three main endings are available on a first run. None is declared canon.
Will fighting everything lock a specific finale?
Aggression is one needle among several, including investigation and time in areas. There is no public meter. Play honestly; see how to survive.
Are ending names listed anywhere on this wiki?
Not yet. The game is still upcoming. Invented titles will not be added. After launch, this page will update from official and first-party information.
